Periphery - Short Documentary
Photoshop | Illustrator
Periphery is an evocative film project that bears witness to ethnic diversity in the Jewish community. Sharing narratives from individuals of multiracial and multiethnic backgrounds. Periphery creates space to look, listen, and learn from participants as they share their experiences and explore ideas of representation, intersectionality, ethnicity, race, and sexuality.
As the film’s animator, I created a series of five rotoscoping animations that were incorporated throughout the documentary.
After watching the raw footage, I selected five significant scenes to animate. I kept a minimal color palette and focused on capturing the power of movement and emotions, in sync with the music. The animations fade in/out with the real footage, creating a subtle yet impactful result.
